Split Rotary Shaft Seals

For sealing dynamic, rotary motion

Split Rotary Shaft Seals are made for easy installation.  Shaft removal and dismantling of machinery are kept to a minimum, thus reducing downtime. This design is recommended for horizontal shafts in grease or below centerline in fluidlubricated applications.

Seals can be supplied solid for original build and split for field replacement.

When installing a split seal, a retaining device is needed (i.e., cover plate) for proper axial compression to secure the seal in the housing; the split must be at 12 o’clock position. Both ends of the garter spring are twist connections.
