Split Rotary Shaft Seals

Split Rotary Shaft Seals are made for easy installation.  Shaft removal and dismantling of machinery are kept to a minimum, thus reducing downtime. This design is recommended for horizontal shafts in grease or below center line in fluid lubricated applications.

When installing a split seal, you need a retaining device (i.e., cover plate) for proper axial compression to secure the seal in the housing; the position of the split must be at 12 o’clock. Both ends of the garter spring are twist connections.
